Sunday, 4th March - Finn Valley Spring 5K Series - Race 2 Report

Over 480 runners took to the start line for the second of the Finn Valley AC Spring 5K series on Sunday, 4th March and five Inishowen athletes were among the starters. Visiting Foyle Valley athlete, Scott Rankin was the overall winner with a 15.28 winning time. Gerard Doherty was the first of the Inishowen AC finishers in 42nd place with a time of 19.00, followed by Seamus Mc Daid in 21.27. Inishowen's Fit4Life entrants were next - Tracy Harvey (23.06), Grainne Gallagher (23.15) and Sonya Mc Grory (25.27). Next on the fixture list is the Bundoran 10 Mile race on Saturday, 10th March, with the next of the Finn Valley 5K series races on Friday, 23rd March, 7pm start.

Sunday, 26th February - National Inter Club Championships, Santry - Results & Report

Irish Senior Cross-country 2012

Eleven Inishowen AC athletes made the journey to Dublin on Sunday, 26th February for the National Inter Club Championships in Santry, bringing the curtain down on the cross country season. Clubs and athletes from all over Ireland were in attendance to compete for national titles. First on the start line for IAC was Helena Crossan in the senior womens race. National Marathon Champion and Olympic 2012 qualifier, Linda Byrne was the pre race favourite and as expected was the clear winner in the 8k race. Helena Crossan finished in a highly cedible 27th place in a competitive field.

Sunday, 17th February - Finn Valley Spring 5K Series - Race 1 Report

Finn Valley 5k (February 2012)A massive crowd of 450 turned up at Finn Valley on Sunday, 17th Febuary for the first of the Spring 5k series. Inishowen AC were represented by eight athletes who made the early morning trip for the 11am start. Gerad Doherty was first of the Inishowen AC athletes over the line with an 18.38 finish, followed closely by Christian Mc Ginley in 18.47.

Grainne Gallagher continued her good form with a 23.02 finish and close behind was Gerad Harkin in 23.08. Other Inishowen finishers were Sonya Mc Grory 25.03, Una Harkin 28.19 and Lyndsay Harding 31.18.

Well done to all athletes involved. The next race in the series is on Sunday, 4th March.
